ok heres a shortcut for you man. if you look on the right side of your intercooler you will see your recirculating valve (where the bov bolts on to). you can see that there is a rubber hose connecting to it, with a clamp holding it on. if you take that off and plug it, you can get a nice "choof" or "pshhh" sound. because instead of the air recirculating, it just blows out. there's ur cheap-o bov man :) and i would save ur money and buy a tsudo 3" downpipe and a tune. although, that will cost you around $400 total, it's totally worth it :) or just a drop in HKS air filter. you will notice a huge difference with the downpipe, and a smaller difference with the air filter

no offense to you overspool, but OP
DO
NOT
do this

baaad idea

It can be done. Just make sure to change it back if you get a cel. just dont do dumb things to hear the bov. If you are racing your car and you hear the bov you are shifting too slow. Or dont do a heavy load pull and push the clutch in to hear it. Just drive normal. Even at low rpm and low boost it will stil be loud enough. I ran stock BOV going to atmosphere for awhile it was fine. The turbo wont spool as fast though cause your losing all that pressure. As of right now my BOV is right behind my fog light cover and my motor isn't gonna BLOW because of it lol.

Then do what you want, but please don't spread information that you are not sure of.

The difference is negligible at best. People keep saying that it is SOOOO terrible for your car. Guess what else is terrible for it? Screwing around with ECU maps, putting in larger injectors, and *GASP!!!!* driving it hard or racing it. :P Anti-lag is one of the worst things you can do in the argument of having your engine be reliable and function well, yet a lot of us secretly wish for it because it sounds awesome, and the lack of lag is great.

OP: If you want a BOV, get one. But make sure you tune and adjust for it, as it will make you run slightly rich for the short time that the air isn't recirculating.

^^^^agreed, a lot of people have never been around turbocharged cars (probably his family and friends) and its a really fun way to impress them and start conversations :)

jhelsten, this is what i would do. instead of getting a ram intake (cone) I would just get an hks or blitz or k&n drop in filter. that way you don't have to get a tune with it, and you will notice a significant change in throttle response. it'll save you alot of money. the stock air intake box on the 08's are actually really nice.
