When i was at the dealership picking up a slave cylinder to finally finish off my 6-speed swap, one of the techs back in the servise department said that i need to retune my car since i went from a 5-speed to a 6-speed(07sti tranny). Me and steve talked about this and we really didn't see why you have to retune after a tranny install. the only thing i can see is the gear ratio's. Does anyone know if this is b.s. or not? my car is already tunned via cobb AP.

Highly unlikely. Unless for some reason the wrx has a tcm for the manual. which would be lame! So if your 5speed has its own computer then I agree. IMO get the beast running and driving and see if you have any problems. then take on the problems! :)

Because the 6spd has a different computer, you "may" have to reset the whole ECU, then reflash the appropriate map.

But with that, I really don't see why you would need to be retuned to run a different tranny.

i know when i did my research on it i never heard any one mention that they had to get a tune after a 6-speed swap. once i get it started i will take bones advice and drive and see how it performs. if i had to get a tune a "street" tune is $150 and "dyno" tune is $400

tried reseting the ecu noting, tried the clutch switch you recommended, nothing, then i tried to ohm out the starter from the negative terminal to the positive terminal and got a dead open, last hooked up the starter to direct 12 power source via known good battery and jumper cables and nothing happen, tomorrow i will take it to autozone and get it benched checked

I see. That sucks he is having those kinds of issues. I wonder if during the install the clutch safety switch some how got unhooked or something.
