This one is at Crystal Hot Springs in Honeyville near Brigham City. It will be a good location plus you can go swimming and stuff too. The actual rallyx will be on that Saturday the 29th.

rossl i want to begin my rallyx adventure with my L, but it is still my daily driver and i cant break it. It has VERY high miles. I never take the rpms over 4,000. Should i continue to hold off or is it really not that bad and i dont need to worry about it breaking

A lot of the cars that come have higher mileage, I know of a couple with around 200k miles on them. But I won't lie to you the cars will take somewhat of a beating, it's hardest on suspension. On the course I will hit redline in 1st regularly but rarely need to shift into 2nd. Also keep in mind that one run usually only lasts about one minute so the car isn't running hard for too long. SCCA rules state that the course cannot exceed ~40mph and wheels cannot leave the ground. If we start to get ruts or notice wheels coming up then the course design is changed. Each car will do three morning runs and three afternoon runs so it gives the cars a chance to cool down and for you to check things over (for example one guy's oil drain plug had vibrated loose and then fell off which caused his oil to drain out causing engine damage) so you just have to be careful of things like that and just check over your car between runs.

Subarus also seem to be tougher than some of the other cars 8) . My engine was submerged halfway into a creek a couple years ago and it's still running strong. Maybe try driving your car on a twisty dirt road and go between 20-35mph and that will give you a feel of what it's like. You can also just show up that morning and check out the course to see if it looks okay. If you decide not to drive then you can always ride shotgun in other driver's cars to get a feel for what it's like.

It is a ton of fun though, I drove my friend's car the first time I did it and was hooked ever since. I wish I could tell you what the course would be like but we've never done an event at Crystal Hot Springs before.

You can check out some of my rallyx videos here: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rossluzz&search_type=&aq=f

Also I need to find out if my Dad is coming. If he's not co-driving then you could drive my car.

jeez that sounds fun, i have done a lot of off-roading in my little L but not in high rpms. It has 211,000 miles and has just been perfect, i would hate to sabotage it after all this good behavior its been on. Once i have a different daily driver i want to shred it to pieces:) but i am having a hard time waiting until then....

Tons of fun today. Four Subarus there; mine, 2 WRX's and a Legacy. This course was the easiest on my car that I've been on. Very hard pack dirt so it didn't rut up and zero rocks. Lots of dust. They're doing it all again tomorrow. I'm going to stop by tomorrow afternoon and take some pics that I"ll post up later.

My battery died before I was able to take pics of the other cars, but I'll post some more after today.
