I install a Clarion head unit. I got a wiring harness, connected all the wires. Everything works fine, except I have an issue with the radio. I'm getting a clear signal, but even when I max out the volume I can barely hear the station if I put my ear up to it. This issue doesn't occur when using the USB cable, or a CD.

The stereo was installed previously in my MR2 and the radio stations worked fine on it. Also they worked fine in my Subaru on the stock unit.

I've checked the troubleshooting for the HU, which doesn't have any details.

Any ideas?

Edit: Okay I think I know what the issue is. Apparently there's an FM amp that needs to be connected. I've heard this is the "blue" wire on the aftermarket harness labeled as power antenna. I'll try this wire tomorrow and see if that resolves my issue. Otherwise, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the stock harness? Which wire goes to the FM Amp on it?

Thanks,

Timon

The "blue" wire on aftermarket stereos is always a remote amp power switch - whether it is for a FM signal amplifier, or for an aftermarket subwoofer amplifier. It sends a small electronic signal out to the amplifier that basically says "Hey, the stereo is on - you might want to consider turning on, too..."

If it does have an FM amp, that is what you will need to connect it to.

i have to ask this question did you hook the antenna back up? The suby doesnt have a amplified antenna so unless you are running an aftermarket amp you shouldnt need to hook up that wire. there was a black wire with a plug that was attached to the mounting bracket did you hook that back on?

^ Yep, as I mentioned I double checked the antenna wire. According to a bit of info I found it does have an FM amplifier, and it sounds logical since everything else works fine, except the stereo. I don't have anything else aftermarket for the stereo (no amp, subs, speakers, etc.), but those will be sure to come in the future.

I just left the deck out of the car for now, looks like my stuff got jacked :P. Anyway, I'll try the connecting the blue wire whe I get off work.

In the mean time, anyone have the pin outs for the stock harness by chance?

It's something with the Subaru. I tested it back in the MR2 and it works fantastic. Also tested the stock unit for the Subaru and fantastic again.

I hooked up the power antenna (blue wire) and nothing. I hooked it up blue to blue, as it should be. I then tried blue to blue w/ white stripe for the remote 12v+ power and nothing.

I'm confused as to what the issue is.

if it were the factory amp then you wouldnt have sound at all because it wouldnt be powered. i used to work at some audio shops and that one a problem i ran into a couple times was not knowing it was factory amped and would get nothing. i dont know if the newer models need an antenna adapter or not, does it fit securely??

i dont know if youve got it fixed or not but ill rack my brain and ask around and see if i can come up with anything and let you know.

Did the towers fall cause the planes hit them, or did they colapse because of controlled demolition?
