I tinted my tail lights and left the reverse alone i really like it. i would just suggest to not go too dark or you can get caught. i haven't...yet. but i think they look really good. you can use a spray called VHT night shade. its 13.88 after tax

I wouldn't use VHT. Usu vinyl. I have that on my cars and if you get hassled you just peel it off and get it redone. I can give you the place that does it if you'd like. I don't really get bothered much, mostly by UHP.

I tinted my eclipse tails with VHT niteshades. I did about 6-7 LIGHT coats. Just to make sure i get it even. I have had it on there for about a year and a half. Hit it with a pressure washer, its been in all types of weather and NOOOOOO problems. I would suggest it 100% just make sure its super clean and you scuff it up a little with some scotch bright and let it dry for a couple days before you wash it. If you want it to have more shine and even more protection hit it with some clear then cut and buff for a beautiful shine. ( I didnt use clear btw )

is it still illegal if you just put a light tint on the tails? like the gunsmoke? (i think thats what I'm thinking of.)

Yes it is. However, whether or not you'll get caught is subjective.

ya i have had mine on there for a year and a half and have never been pulled over except once during the cache valley cruise in a salt lake highway patrolman pulled me over and said its illigal but i had a logan cop look at it and he said it was fine. I think the slc cop was just onry because he had so many cars to worry about during the car show. but i have passed inspection twice with it
