So, in preparation for the winter, I want to paint my stockers. I'm thinking I REALLY want a dark bronze color. Has anyone done bronze before? What paint/clear did you use? These are only winter/stockers, but I don't want to mess with chipping/cracking paint. :)

Edit: Something like this:

Rice on a Spoon Motorsports S2k? Hardly!

...oh wait. Are you making fun of me? You chut up! I love bronze. I'm still looking for a perfect low off-set, 17x8, 5x100 wheel. :)

I used Rustoleum with their Lacquer clear coat. They sell some at Home Depot that looks similar to the color you posted, it's called antique brass metallic.

Unfortunately the lip will flake off when tires are mounted or dismounted when you use rattle can paint, despite the work of the most careful of tire techs. However, the face of my wheels look as good as the day I sprayed them, I'm very happy with the quality.

^Noted, thanks! Flaking isn't a big deal. I can always tape up the wheels and re-paint them.

Also, I really like colored lugs. I just don't know what would go well with bronze wheels and a silver car.

Not to mention extremely biased to a subaru.. But with the most amount of respect! :)

Hahaha, I know. :)

I've got a couple leads so far. I need to go to the store tomorrow and see what I can find.

Found some. Ended up going with Rusto Antique Brass Metallic. Along with adhesion primer, and clear coat. I bought 3 cans of each, just in case I mess up. I'm still fairly new at rattle-canning. So I'll probably have a little extra afterwards, if anyone wants some paint.

I'll hit you up if I'm not happy with the DIY route. :)

I think you'll like that color, I used it on some intake piping on my Honda Prelude. I love Rustoleum's metallic paint. I've used about three of their colors and they're all quite nice.
