ok first thing is i was wondering if we could get the feature to do multiple quotes
not necessarily needed, but nice to have
i dont know if its just an update, or an upgrade that would cost more or what

second thing is, to up the size of the avatar
i tried the smallest size pictures at the lowest of low qualities to try to get below 17kb, and i cant do it
i dunno if its just cause photoshop is dumb or what, but ya

If you upload it to an image hosting site, then you can link it in your profile and have an image.
*Size the image down 200px × 200px or less so you don't take the whole page :)

I agree with the multiple quote.

That I am aware of, there wouldn't be more of a cost, because the forum isn't costing us anything. Matt wanted one that was totally free and more friendly than....*ahem* other forums.

He and I were talking about this, because the "freeforums" site that this is hosted from is blocked out from Hill's firewall, and there is a decent amount of people that work up there who use this forum. If we can find a decent place that will host it for free, there is a possibility that we might try to migrate the forum over to something run through our own domain, via MyBB. That should give us more options for it.

Personally, I wouldn't mind taking the hit for us to host it from Yahoo so we have unlimited storage and can have open access from anywhere, but it would cost roughly $10 a month, and he wanted to keep it free and simple, so we're trying to find a good hosting service for it.

ask the site admins at awdpirates or flat4lv and see whom they host thru. also i hate it but advertisments wouldnt hurt to help curb cost

Well, I know that MyBB just requires a server to host it from. The actual bulletin board software is free, you just need to have a little expertise with php and MySQL (which I have).

The problem is finding a service from which we can host it. If, for instance, we can get places like Mark Miller, Rallysportdirect, etc. etc. to chip in a little bit (like $5 a month each for advertising), that would allow us to host the site out of a place like Yahoo or GoDaddy that would not get blocked out the same way that a lot of firewalls for different workplaces and such. But, pK, that is a good idea. I will talk to them and see if there is any way to swing that, because for the downtime at work, I would really like to have access to THIS forum.

i know the "free" thing has always been an issue but im sure 12 members a year would donate a month's 10 dollars each, including me, to have the site running most awesomely, there are plenty of ways to make it work i would think

It's not that the site itself needs to be improved....it's the fact that some of us use ...other forums rather often just because "freeforums" is something that is blocked out by our work. For instance, I can't access things like facebook, youtube, myspace, picasa, photobucket, etc. etc. etc. at work because certain URL's are blocked based on content. So, anything that uses certain web protocols will frequently be blocked from work. I know I'm not the only one that has this problem. The frustration is that I totally understand wanting to keep the financial aspect out of it, but most of my downtime I spend on the internet is at work, and I would like to get here from there.[/i]

I'm for starting a new site, however its too hard to carry over all the members on the site. I've already considered starting a new site using V-Bulletin but if I was to switch I would lose all 453 members that have already registered. I know that only maybe 120 members are really active so it wouldn't take long to get the numbers back. This is something that will take a lot of time working on. I can start working on the website I was building and then make a preview of the site too see what everyone thinks, again remember we are going to lose everyones accounts.

I currently own the slcsubaru.com rights, thats why when you type it in it automatically takes you to the freeforum.org site. When I started the club back in Oct 2007 I didn't think it would take off the way it has. We had only 6-8 members for the first 3-4 months then Matt really helped this site take off.
