Should we stop calling Subaru's soobies as well? I say no way should we quite calling them Rex's I view this term as a T-Rex as in Dinosaurs, one that will bite your head off and one very fitting of our turbo Soobies be it a Rex or what I call the STI a T-Rex. :)

My 2 cents on this matter.

Do you refer to Myspace as Facebook? Or to Yahoo as Hotmail?

No.

Therefore, referring to the WRX as a Rex is incorrect, as the term "Rex" is already taken by an actual car. Seeing as there never were, or are any car companies that use the handle "Scooby," using this in reference to Subaru is acceptable.

I don't mind "rex." I've only heard it once but it still bugs me is when a kid asked if my WRX was "sty" instead of STi. I dunno why it bugs me but it does.

When i got my WRX someone asked me if it was a "Stee" i was like,
"An ESS TEE EYE?"
"Yeah a stee"
"No its not an ESSS TEE EYE, just a wrx."
He couldn't grasp the fact that sti is not supposed to be said phonetically, even though I made it abundantly clear...

I use rex for wrx frequently. Just easier.

Unless I'm with Honda people, in which case, I get a weird look and they say "I thought you had a Subaru...?"

I have found myself saying my screen name a lot recently when introducing myself. I must agree, this term is pretty damn lame...
