I'm buying one.

As doubtful as I am of my own mechanical knowledge, I'm going to try to put in my self, as it doesn't seem TOO complicated. Who wants to spend an afternoon with me either this weekend or next, and get it installed? Free pizza will be awaiting your arrival. :)

I'm buying one too, just not before I get a decent exhaust and some other things taken care of first. Lol. Let me know how this goes, though, as I will be doing one within the next 3 months myself (along with the bushings).

I can help you out. Pretty straight forward install, the hardest part is getting the interior apart...

I can put a shifter in an 06 WRX almost as fast as I can eat a slice of pizza--LOL

SUPER easy install... just be patient getting out the oem shifter bushing.... it's a PITA.... get a LONG screwdriver that you don 't mind using.

Which shifter bushing? forward or back? The front one you just pop the plate off, manuever the whole assy so that the pin is jammed firmly on the meat of the bushing, then just use your huge ******* screwdriver as a lever and push the assy towards the tranny, pushing the bushing out the other side of the assy... The rear is the biggest PITA. I still haven't gotten mine on. Every month or so when I'm feeling brave under the car i take another stab at it. I just can't get the bolts to thread...

Matt, I'll probably hit you up when it comes in, and double check to see when you'll be in the valley again. ^_^
I'll time you to see what you can do faster, eat pizza, or put in a shifter.

The front shifter linkage bushings, right? They are all the same. Some people cut one end of the bushing, i find it much easier to just muscle it throught the end of the linkage.

^^^ Ok... I dunno.... I just pry it out with an old screwdriver. Never bothered to cut anything.

Yeah. You can twist the linkage so that the little peg that comes out of the transmission binds against the bushing. Then just push the whole linkage towards the transmission while its still in the same position and the bushing will just pop out. VERY EASY install.

P.S. I got in the mail a few days ago. I'm still too wary of my own mechanical knowledge to do this myself. My offer for free pizza still stands. Just let me know when you're available. :)

edit: Got the shift lever and front bushing installed, but I took a few stabs at the rear bushing, and I have no idea how to get in there. Guess I'll wait for a bit.
