Welcome Orlando...

Any WRX is capable of producing far more than stock STI power, but with that said, the STI is a better platform to start with if you have the $$$. The brembos and the bulletproof 6-speed are high selling points. Truthfully, although the engine has a few forged internal components, it isn't really that much of an advantage over the WRX.

"Stages" are nothing but a marketing tool. One company's "stage" may be completely different than another company's stage.

With that said, the "general" rule of thumb:

Tune = stage 1
Tune + TBE - stage 2
tune + TBE + turbo upgrade + i/c upgrade = stage 3
tune + TBE + large turbo + injectors + FMIC = stage 4
tune + TBE + huge turbo + injectors + FMIC = stage 5 (full race)

There are much more supporting mods for the 04-07 STIs than there are for the 08-09, however the aftermarket support is growing, so it really boils down to personal taste, and up-front cost.

Thank You ninefourteener for all the info. so all that you said is i can go at once to ''stage 5'' without any problems. let say that i have or im willing to expend max $15k-20k to the car ( engine, exterior, interior, etc) is enough to modify the car and fast enough to reach below 11's? and kick some ass on the street specially (Mitsubishi) and what brand do you ususally recomend for STI's? and the best way to build a good car i have to read alot here and chose good parts and brand before i going to star to modify the car at once. and the other issue about car inspection , with those mod maybe not going to pass.

(if i have bad grammar let me know 0 English is my third language, so im trying my best to learn about modify my future car) Thanks..

I don't know matt... Once you get to a up into the GT35R range of turbo, you're in a lot deeper then just engine supporting mods. Tranny probably would probably have to be rebuilt (assuming below 11's is in reference to drag, and launching is necesary) along with a serious clutch, new diffs (maybe), serious weight loss, a pretty well balanced suspension, and an almost complete loss of drivability to boot...

sorry i mean 11's to 12's
i know to weight loss it is a very importan step to drag race but i want also a little bit style to the interior like( changing seats, good sound system(not heavy system) etc. for daily drive. however ,i would like to learn what parts isn't necessary and what is crucial to build a perfomance car.

could be a good ideal buying a packege from this page? like this packege?

http://www.xcceleration.com/sti.gt35.race.kit.htm

another question! what is the different between shortblock and long block?

EJ25.EJ20 ?

I know a guy in St Louis..... with an 05 STI..... and an APS SR55, 1000cc injectors, meth, AND nitrous.

Runs 10.2 in the quarter.... and drives it daily.

.... on the stock engine internals and tranny... all he did was put beefier head gaskets on it.

yes the short block is the block and crank and pistons. the long block gets the heads on it and that is it!

they have some mean race car subies down in puerto rico.

15-20 grand will buy you a crap load of mods. You should easily be able to make those quarter mile times with that much to spend, especially since you can just keep it all on the stock six speed
