Some people have been acting like total ASSHATS when it comes to canyon runs, so here's the bottom line. NOBODY PASSES ANYBODY DURING A CANYON RUN. It's just stupid. There is no reason why you should need to pass somebody during a canyon run. You're not proving anything to anybody except that you're a total moron.

Ok, so aside from passing people, here is what NOT to do:
Tailgate, it can lead to a nasty accident.
SLAM on you're brakes, it can also lead to a bad accident.
Try and "drift" corners. that is just proving that you WANT to go off the edge and die.

For Nighttime canyon runs, take these "guidelines" and multiply them by 10. We had a couple mishaps at the last cruise, and we don't want to see them again. We are not a street race crew, we are a club. I don't want to see somebody get arrested.

quoted from pumpkyn:
1. use common sense
2. canyon cruise = cruise not race
3. dont tailgate anything can pop out at anytime.
4. do not pass unless motioned to pass.
5. only the front car has his high beams on (night cruising)
6. if you cant handle the lead, dont go outside of your element to show people you have balls. let someone who knows the canyon or what they are doing take the lead.
7. slamming on brakes is a no no unless it is necessary
8. if you want to drift(inexperienced) do it on your own time and away from other people whom value their cars.
9. make sure your car is capable of a canyon cruise. we dont need ghetto rigged brake lines or duct taped suspension parts.

I assume you're talking about meets involving a canyon cruise. If so, I agree with the above rules. There's nothing wrong with being enthusiastic about the road but drive defensively and courteously.

At dawn/dusk/night, keep a sharp eye out for deer/antelope/elk/moose/etc.

i have put together several successful canyon cruises, night and day. Lay out the guidelines EVERYTIME before the cruise and if someone has a problem, ask them to leave. If someone breaks the guidelines in a reckless way, stop the cruise ask that person to leave and dont invite them next time.
