And loves every minute of it!
I was just throwing the idea out there....I should have mentioned not to much money. I know if everyone coughed up some dime that would add up really quick. So I kinda agree with you kentrik. :headspin:

Well, if we want to set up a paypal account FOR the boards that people can contribute to, maybe even give a special title to those who do, and a Limited Edition T-Shirt and/or sticker or something, that would be a great way to pay for it, but.......when too much money gets involved in this type of thing, it can make a lot of people sour or bitter. It's probably better to deal with the ads and keep it free.

Unfortunately you are 100% correct...... money causes things to go sour.

Check out:

www.914club.com

and

www.914world.com

I'm a member of BOTH..... have been since 2002. Except I only joined one website. The owners/founders argued over money... so bad that they actually split the site into 2 duplicate sites, with all the same members.... weird... stupid... and useless..

Just not worth all the crap that goes along with turning slcsubaru.com into a "business"

Yeah. And I hate to use "the other forum" as an example, but there isn't a TON of pressure to donate over there. It does help keep it more available, but still.....we would like to stay friends here, and my experience has always shown that the more money ends up involved with friends (especially if something is an "operating cost"), the worse it gets.

The only other thing I can think of that would be less annoying......would it be possible to screen ads and make sure that they are relevant? They aren't gonna make much revenue off of us for advertising Obama wanting Soccer Moms to go back to college and crap like that....

This will probably just be dismissed since I pretty much lurk no days but...My offer of free hosting still stands. Full admin rights to everything. I've been paying for hosting for 9 years and pretty much only use it for email and my small site.

Or go to www.schostpro.com ... $5/m...better than $10 per 10000 impressions

//just sayin'

I think ads are just fine. The site is growing and one person should not be asked to foot the bill for it. My ONLY request is that they fit in with the layout of the site. I am loving it :)

By the way, this would be a great time to thank Chris and Matt for putting this thing together ;)

i like it, i just thing it would be cool for a button to pop it open and closed. when i scroll down, the scrolling gets stuck in the chat box and i hav to click somewhere else...
but whatev...if more people like it... i use it too. its not bad.
